About David Baldacci

David Baldacci Ford, born on August 5, 1960, is a prominent American novelist known for his suspenseful works, primarily encompassing suspense novels and legal thrillers. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, he pursued his education at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he earned a B.A. in political science. Subsequently, he obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law, which led to a nine-year career as an attorney in Washington, D.C. Baldacci is of Italian descent.

From an early age, Baldacci exhibited a passion for writing, initially recording stories in a notebook given to him by his mother. Despite years of writing, which included short stories and screenplays, he faced limited success.

However, it was while practicing law that he decided to venture into novel writing. He dedicated three years to crafting his debut novel, “Absolute Power,” which was published in 1996 and achieved international recognition. Over the years, Baldacci has authored 46 novels for adults and seven for younger readers.

Beyond his writing career, David Baldacci resides with his family in Fairfax County, Virginia. He is also a philanthropist and, alongside his wife Michelle, established the Wish You Well Foundation to combat illiteracy in the United States by supporting adult literacy and education programs. Additionally, he became involved with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society after his sister, Sharon Baldacci, was diagnosed with MS. His dedication to literature and culture is evident in his ten-year tenure on the board of trustees of the Mark Twain House & Museum in Hartford, Connecticut, during which he generously donated $1 million to the institution.
